Parochial Church Council

Soham parish church is governed by the Parochial Church Council (PCC), within the structure of the Diocese of Ely. The PCC works in co-operation with the vicar to promote the whole mission of the Church: pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical.

The PCC meets usually on the first Tuesday of the month at St Andrew's Church. Our meetings open with prayer and we then discuss matters of religious or public interest, and of wider diocesan or deanery concern. The PCC also has responsibility for the financial affairs of the church, and the care and maintenance of the church building. Beyond St Andrew's, the PCC seeks to ensure that the church takes a full and active part in the life of the benefice of Soham, including through fostering existing links with local schools and through supporting wider community events.

In addition to the clergy, churchwardens and members of higher synods, Soham PCC has 12 elected members. Members usually serve for a period of three years with a third of the membership retiring or standing for re-election each year. If you would like to take an active part in the running of the church, please contact the vicar on 01353 725948 and come along to our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) in the spring, where elections to the PCC will be held. PCC members must have been on the electoral roll of the parish for at least 6 months before being elected to office.
