News from the Pews - 11 December 2024
Dear Friends
Short and hurried news this week, as I wanted to remind those who usually come to the Thursday 10am Communion service that there won't be one tomorrow, because of the Xmas Tree Festival (we have groups of pre-schoolers visiting the Festival and hearing the Xmas story every morning before it opens to the public at 10.30; Weatheralls Primary School's reception classes came on Tuesday lunchtime too...). Back next week as usual (Thursday 19 Dec., 10am in the chancel).
For those who would like to catch the Xmas Trees but haven't yet, tomorrow is the last day (10.30-12; 2.30-4); and if you can't do tomorrow, Hannah has very kindly made this video (a couple of late-arrival trees aren't shown, as the photos were taken on the morning it opened, but most of them feature!) https://youtu.be/DLzPmHTjl5M
THANK YOU to everyone who has stewarded the Festival, braving the awful cold (and wind and rain at the weekend). People have loved it, and it couldn't've happened without you.
Looking forward, don't forget the Traditional Candlelit Carol Service on Sunday at 6.30pm, followed by mulled wine and mince pies and live background music from a wind ensemble called 'The Cornistas', organised by Tim London; or Community Carols in the churchyard accompanied by members of Soham Comrades Band from 6.30pm next Thursday 19 Dec. I'm still collecting angels for the latter - they'll be taking flight from this w/e onwards, coming soon to a fence post near you... Thank you so much to everyone who's knitted them (over 150 in total at the last count!)
And finally, don’t forget there’s another round of carol singing organised by John Cole tomorrow evening, Thursday, at 6.30, this time at Townsend Manor. All that matters is a smile... Just turn up!
I hope that's everything for now.
See you on Sunday, if not before, and with best wishes and my prayers til then
Eleanor
